Half-submerged

Initiated by the celebration of the Chinese New Year 2024 and inspired by the shape of oriental fans, I designed an installation using a mathematical approach based on the equation y = ax^2 + bx + c, where a, b, and c represent constants. This equation resembles a half-circle when plotted on the y-axis, then submerged on the xy plane/world, appearing as half-submerged. The design serves as a creative interpretation blending cultural symbolism with mathematical concepts, suitable for use as an installation piece.
