The U.S. Army Chaplain Corps conducts 6 boards per fiscal year, beginning with the November Board. All applications are aimed at participating in next available board cycle. Each board cycle has benchmark deadlines in order to participate. For Active-Duty and Army Reserve applicants, the first deadline will be the submission of your endorsement and sacred communication video to your recruiting station. Failure to meet the designated deadlines for a particular board will result in your application being delayed into the next board cycle.
Applications must be initiated with an Army Chaplain Recruiter.
On average, the application process will take 2 to 4 months to complete. It is recommended that you initiate your process as early as possible to meet your anticipated board schedule.
The following are some key benchmarks when making your decision to initiate your application:
Chaplain Candidate Applications: May board 6 months prior to your projected undergraduate degree graduation
Active-Duty and Army Reserve Applications: May board 6 months prior to your projected MDIV degree graduation
Army Reserve Applications: May not board sooner than 90 days from receiving your ecclesiastical endorsement
Active Duty Applications: May not board sooner than 30 days from receiving your ecclesiastical endorsement
