My passion for mindfulness and the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to find the tools and strategies in order to thrive during stressful situations prompted me to apply for the Google for Education Innovator Program.
Over the year, I developed a program that Teachers can use in the classroom to support students and families as they work towards identifying and developing essential skills for positive mental health. As part of this project, I aimed to develop an app or online platform where users can maintain a daily gratitude journal and track their emotions throughout the day through regular check-ins. The goal is that through this program, and with support from the app and its tools - mindful colouring, guided meditations and mindful movements - children as young as 3 can be equipped with the tools to handle the everyday stresses of life. The app will also connect users to an online mindful support community that offers inspirational messages and tips for managing stress.
