April 2021

April 1st, 2021

Happy April! Here's what we were up to this week:

In Literacy, we continued with Book Talks, and students were asked to think about the themes in their novels. They were asked to consider the author's message and what this might mean for them as readers. Many of the novels that we are reading contain themes related to the social issues we discussed earlier this year and it's nice to see the connections some students are making to their action plans for Social Studies.

In Math, we wrapped up our unit on Geometry and Spatial Sense with an activity where students had to guess what was on their partner's minds. We also spent some time continuing to work on and master reflections - our Reflection Math Name Art - and rotations. Next week I'm certain that we are jumping into probability. 😆

In Science, students got down to building their paper model of the human body and they look pretty incredible. After their models are ready to go, we'll continue to discuss body systems and their interconnectedness. Students will also be tasked with thinking about disease and how they impact systems through a Design sprint.

The Arts were buzzing again this week. From learning more parts for our song with Mrs. Hunt to practicing our plays for Drama, I'm learning more and more that we have some incredible artists in room 207. Next week we will be performing and starting a new project for Dance.

In Physical Education we had the opportunity to get outside for a walk and students also had some time to play cooperative games in the gym. After the break, we will be starting a new unit and students will have more opportunities to enjoy the warmer weather as we head outdoors more.

In French, students continued to learn how to order at a restaurant in French with Ms. Celine. Students read a short text and had the opportunity to practice reading aloud with each other. We also checked for understanding by answering questions. Next week, we will be jumping into a Media Literacy project where students will be creating menus for a restaurant. I can't wait to see what they come up with!

Next week is another short week as this weekend is Easter for some. Happy Easter to those celebrating. I hope that you have a safe and restful long weekend!
