Over the past few years, I have been on my own mindfulness journey. I have personally seen the benefits of journaling and meditation and have been lucky to be supported in bringing those tools into my work in the classroom with students.

My passion for mindfulness and the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to find the tools and strategies in order to thrive during stressful situations, prompted me to apply for the Google For Education Innovator Program.

Over the course of the year, I will be working to develop a program that Teachers can use in the classroom in order to support students and families as they work towards identifying and developing essential skills for positive mental health. I am also hoping to build an app or online space where users can complete a daily gratitude journal and document emotions throughout the day through check-ins. The goal is that through this program, and with support from the app and it's tools - mindful colouring, guided meditations and mindful movements - children as young as 3 can be equipped with the tools to handle the everyday stresses of life. The app will also connect users to an online mindful support community that offers inspirational messages and tips for managing stress.
