This is currently my 4th year in marching band. I find the activity to be educational, active, and fun. I have made many friends over the years and have learned many lessons. We go to football games and demonstrate our school spirit with stand tunes, then entertain the crowd by performing our show. On weekends we compete with other bands while judges evaluate our precision and creativity. The experience allows time for me to bond with my fellow band members while having a good time.
I am an active participant in the National Art Honor Society (NAHS), which meets every Tuesday during school. I have always been interested in art and i have used my creativity since I was a toddler. NAHS allows for me to put my art skills towards fun projects that practice team collaboration and creativity.
During the summer I enjoy being on the water. Between boating, kayaking, paddlingboarding, and swimming, I highly enjoy nature. I often go out with my friends or family to participate in these summer activities. They make me feel at peace, especially during sunset.
During the winter my family and I go on an annual ski trip to Jeffersonville, VT. We go to the resort Smuggler's Notch for a whole week. While I am good at black diamond trails, I consider myself an intermediate skier since I prefer to stay on blue trails. I have been skiing since I was a toddler, where I would go to ski school in the mornings. Now I go to all 3 mountains with my cousins and we ski for hours with occasional hot cocoa stops since the temperatures have gotten down to the -30 degrees Fahrenheit in my experience.
I have recently participated in the St. Mary's County Indoor Colorguard, which was an amazing expierence for me. I got to do extensive traveling, with drives up to 5 hours each way. I made friends and learned to value of perseverance. Since colorguard was entirely new for me, I had to build up my strength while learning in order to perform well.
