The U.S. Government Investigates UFO's

The history of the UFO phenomenon in the United States is extensive and convoluted. However, the U.S. Government issued top-secret programs such as; Project Sign 1948, Project Grudge 1948-1952, and Project Blue Book 1952-1969, which are codenames for the Air Force to conduct studies and investigating UFO’s. The CIA also investigated the study of unidentified flying objects while they surveil the U.S. Air Force in the process. They also analyzed and evaluated their reports. The FBI investigates ufo's on a few cases with the U.S. Air Force. There was also an alleged group known as the Majestic 12 and lastly the myth about the Men in Black conspiracies.

Project Sign & Project Grudge

Project Sign 1948-1949

Project Sign was initially called Project Saucer that started in 1948. This top-secret program established by the head of the Air Technical Service Command, Air Force Gen. Nathan Twining. The Commander of the Air Materiel Command at Wright-Patterson, Lt. General Nathan F. Twining, held a conference with persons from the Air Institute of Technology, Intelligence T-2, the Office of Chief Engineering Division, and the Aircraft, Power Plant, and Propeller Laboratories of Engineering Division T-3.

Their job was to collect, collate, evaluate, and distribute within the government all information relating to such sightings, on the premise that UFOs might be real and of national security concern. The majority of the researchers claim that ufos were enemy Soviet aircraft. The Air Force soon concluded that ufos were real but easily explained and not extraordinary. The Air Force report found that almost all sightings originate from one or more of three causes: mass delirium and hallucination, hoax, or misunderstanding of known objects. For those main reasons, they ruled out the possibilities of the existence of extraterrestrials. Therefore, Project Sign came to a close in 1949.

Project Grudge 1949-1952

In 1949 Project Grudge top-secret program investigated by the U.S. Air Force that study and analyzed UFU data. The U.S. AAF, which tried to take the edge off the public uneasiness over UFOs via a public relations campaign designed to persuade the public that UFOs constituted nothing conspicuous. In December of 1949, Project Grudge came to a close because they recommended that the project is minimized in scope because the very existence of Air Force official interest encouraged people to believe in UFOs and contributed to a war frenzy.

Project Blue Book

Project Bluebook 1952-1969

While America was still at war, tensions were running at an all-time high Major General Charles P. Cabell, the Director of Intelligence, ordered a new top-secret program known as Project Blue Book. In Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio is where Project Bluebook had it headquarters. Project Blue Book became the crucial point throughout the 1950s and '60s during the UFO Phenomenon Era, the U.S. Air Force took another shot at investigating UFOs.

They analyzed their reports in two different categories those that could be associated with a known phenomenon, be it atmospheric, or man-made, and those which could not be readily associated with any identifiable cause.
In 1953, the Central Intelligence Agency created the Robertson Panel, by physicist H.P. Robertson, along with other scientists who reviewed Project Blue Book. The Robertson Panel came to a close because the majority of ufo sightings did not pose as a threat in the U.S. and there was no proof of alien existence. The panel's findings unraveled in 1979, causing more conspiracy theories and government cover-ups
In 1966, Edward U. Condon a nuclear physicist was tasked with 59 unexplainable sightings recorded in Project Blue Book, called the Condon Report. His report also found no evidence of alien existence which also was a contributing reason for Project Blue Book to come to an end in 1969.

For 17 years the project recorded over 12,000 sightings. Only 5% of their recorded reports remain unidentified are 701 reported sightings.
