Mutual UFO Network and National UFO Reporting Center
All though, Project Bluebook came to a halt in 1969. On May 31, 1969, a non-profit organization name Mutual UFO Network Incorporated, (MUFON Inc.). MUFON was established by Allen R. Utke and Walter H. Andrus in Quincy, Illinois. It is one of the oldest and largest organizations of its kind, claiming more than 4,000 members worldwide with chapters and representatives in more than 43 countries and all 50 states. MUFONS headquarters is currently located in Irvin, California. Also currently directed by Jan Harzan.
Another organization that investigates UFO sightings in the U.S. called, National UFO Reporting Center, (NUFORC) began in 1974 by Robert J. Gribble. NUFORC is still headquarters is located in Davenport, Washington. The organization's current director is Peter Davenport. The national ufo reporting center has a 24-hour hotline (206-722-3000) for people to report a ufo sighting. Also, it has a fax number and on their website and can also fill out the reported sighting form online. NUFORC has been a continuous operation since 1974. It has cataloged almost 90,000 reported UFO sightings over its history, most of which were in the United States
MUFON and NUFORC are the most well-known data collectors in their organizations. Both organizations keep records and have provided statistics.
