Archery Only Academy Lead Instructor
USA Archery Instructor Trainer, Certified Since 2022
USA Archery Lvl. 2 Instructor, Certified Since 2016
BSA Archery Merit Badge Counselor, Golden Gate Area Council
About Me:
I started competitive archery at University of California, Merced in 2015 and soon became a certified instructor to better serve my team in 2016! I've tried every major discipline, but I still prefer the more traditional sides of archery, competitively shooting barebow recurve. My coaching experience is almost as long as my actual competitive shooting experience and I've brought the sport of archery to thousands of new athletes from UC Merced, Boy Scouts of America, AAPI support groups, and here at Archery Only!
Coaching college and Archery Only's students gave me a lot of experience in teaching large groups and uplifting new students with little-to-no experience to a competitive level in a very short time. Leading the Archery Only Academy has given me valuable knowledge and practice in both group and private archery coaching to push my students to be their best, from modern competitions to traditional applications.

Archery Only Academy Instructor
USA Archery Lvl. 2 Instructor, Certified Since 2022
About Me:
I started as a regular customer at Archery Only and soon learned that I had a real talent for archery! I've tried out the major disciplines, barebow, olympic recurve, and now compound, and have competitively shot olympic recurve for a couple years now. I've earned medals at multiple tournaments around California and attended the Olympic trials in 2023!
I got my coaching certification to improve my own technique and so I can start helping others become more serious about the sport. When not covering our academy lessons, I help host practice leagues and competition preparations at Archery Only to give our customers an extra edge before some of the big national tournaments.

USA Archery Level 1 Instructor:
Level 1 Instructors tend to make up the vast amount of summer camp instructors or assistant coaches around the country, with their basic training being focused around maintaining range safety, technique basics, and equipment maintenance. Although there is no formal limit on how much a Level 1 Instructor can know and teach, you will need to obtain higher level certifications to form and lead official USA archery programs, list as an official "coach"/"instructor" at competitions, and coach certain types of programs. You can become a Level 1 Instructor at the age of 15, and completing Level 1 training is mandatory for most instructors looking to advance to higher coaching levels, although you can combine Level 1 and Level 2 training together.
USA Archery Level 2 Instructor:
Level 2 Instructors can be considered the "backbone" of many archery programs around the nation, completing training that can be around twice as long as the Level 1 certification process. Their training focus is based around technique and shot cycle building, and how to plan and lead classes and group practices. Experienced Level 2 Instructors usually serve in a professional archery team, JOAD program, or archery club, working with new and experienced archers to improve their skill and prepare them for competitions. Many programs also have highly experienced Level 2 Instructors serving as Leads/Head Coach positions. You can become a Level 2 Instructor at the age of 18, and can also complete an additional certification process to become an Instructor Trainer, which can certify new instructors up to Level 2.
USA Archery Level 3 NTS Coach:
Level 3 Coaches usually work with more experienced archers to fine tune their technique through the National Training System (NTS) method of coaching, which is a more evidence-based and scientific method of navigating the sport. Many successful private coaches obtain at least a Level 3 Coach certification, with their students making the top of state, regional, national, and international rankings. You'll find many Level 3 Coaches as the head coach or program lead for archery academies, professional teams, and JOAD/USA Archery Adult Programs. Many Level 3 Coaches obtain their certification with the goal of eventually moving up to higher coach levels. You can become a Level 3 NTS Coach at the age of 19, and can also complete and additional certification process to become a Coach Trainer, which can certify new instructors up to Level 3.
USA Archery Level 4 Coach:
Level 4 Coaches are highly trained to uplift experienced archers to international success, being known for already having students ranking at the national level. Their training focuses on archery-specific science, psychology, biomechanics, and communication to provide the highest quality of coaching, with an even stronger emphasis of the NTS system as formalized by USA Archery. You can become a Level 4 Coach at the age of 20.
USA Archery Level 5 Coach:
Level 5 Coaches are the highest-certified level of coaching within the United States by USA Archery. Coaches you see supporting the top archers at national and international level competitions, including the Olympics, will most likely be Level 5. Having trained athletes, or even medaling themselves in these competitions, they demonstrate the highest standard of archers representing the country.
