Health reform and policy legislation are essential for improving healthcare at the state and national levels. Effective reform begins with accurately documenting health concerns and disease trends, then sharing that information with legislators to guide policy change. During my MSN program, I researched Mississippi’s Smoke-Free Air Act of 2024, which aimed to ban smoking in public facilities to reduce both first- and secondhand smoke exposure. Although the bill did not pass, it highlights ongoing efforts to prevent tobacco-related disease and improve public health in our state. Below is my research paper providing my analysis of the policy.
