This composition is P. I. Tchaikovsky: Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy by Kevin Macleod. It was released with what is known as a Creative Commons Attribution License. Here is a link to the specific work. And here is a link to the author's pager. Here is also a link to the rules governing the Creative Commons license.
Image Sample -JPG
This is a publicity photo of Judy Garland as Dorothy Gale on the set of the Wizard of Oz. It was published with no copyright notice which was required for works to be copyright at that time, automatically putting it into the public domain. The image being in the public domain means that the rights to it belong to all of us instead of a singular rights holder. I found this image by browsing Wikimedia Commons.
Video Sample - YouTube
I found the short by typing it's name into YouTube, i grew up with Fleischer's Superman and saw it many times, so it wasn't surprising I decided to share it. It was posted by the YouTube channel @gilition, but the short was initially released in 1942 by Fleischer Studios.
The short is in the public domain, hence it has no rights holder, it's free for anyone to use in any way they deem fit.
Animation Sample - Animated GIF - Wikimedia Commons
I found this short by perusing through Wikimedia's library of GIFs. The GIF is in the public domain, and was released into the public domain by it's author. Being in the public domain means that this GIF is completely free to do with as you wish, there is no rights holder.
Project Description
This is a project that involved finding and sharing media, as well as communicating that specific media's intellectual property status.
Lessons Learned
Through this project I got a better understanding of what a Creative Commons license, as well as other intellectual property licenses are. I also learned how to embed media into a Google site. I also learned that there is a reason why many YouTube videos have the same music, and that reason is Kevin Macleod releasing his works with a Creative Commons license.
