Oct 2025 - Literacy Link South Central is working on a new project, ARISE: Apprenticeship Readiness Inventory Skills Evaluation. The ARISE Project will identify and address the hidden learning barriers that prevent apprentices from progressing or staying in the trades. The project will also develop resources for LBS Practitioners, learners, and employers.

July 2019 - ABEA worked with McMaster Research Shop on this report, "Knowledge of and Interest in Apprenticeships Among Hamilton’s Literacy and Basic Skills Learners." A study was conducted with learners, in Hamilton, to investigate the level of interest in and knowledge of the apprenticeship program in Ontario. Literacy practitioners were included in the study to understand what knowledge they had to help learners investigating apprenticeships.

This ministry-created resource provides guidance on the apprenticeship goal path description and examines the connection between LBS service provision and the transition to becoming an apprentice or entering into an occupation.
