Introduction  of APLI (by Founding CEO of APLI, Professor Jyuhn H. Ke)

The Asia Pacific Laser Institute (APLI) is a leading organization dedicated to advancing laser medicine and providing exceptional continuing education in the Asia-Pacific region. APLI's primary focus is equipping medical professionals, especially dentists, with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in utilizing laser technology. By offering a range of theoretical and practical courses, APLI aims to familiarize dental practitioners with laser equipment, empowering them to leverage its full potential effectively.

With its origins rooted in Taiwan, a hub for pioneering dental laser technology, APLI has played a pivotal role in driving advancements in the field. The introduction of the first dental laser (CO2) to Taiwan in 1982 by Professor Wan-Hong Lan marked the beginning of a remarkable journey. Subsequent approvals of the first Er:YAG laser in 1997 and Er,Cr:YSGG in 1998 further accelerated progress. Notably, in 1999, Professor Jyuhn H. Ke introduced the first Erbium family laser to Asia. Motivated by these significant achievements, APLI was established in 2007 by Emeritus Professor Wan-Hong Lan as the Founding Chairman and Professor Jyuhn H. Ke as the Founding CEO.

APLI has made substantial contributions to the field of laser dentistry through its highly regarded events and congresses. The inaugural World Congress of APLI, held in July 2007 at the prestigious Grand Hotel in Taipei, showcased esteemed speakers who shared their expertise with resounding success. Since then, APLI has been organizing annual congresses, attracting international delegates from around the globe. These gatherings serve as dynamic platforms for bringing together world-renowned laser experts, fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration. APLI has also forged partnerships with esteemed organizations such as the Society for Oral Laser Applications (SOLA), co-hosting the 2013 World Congress of SOLA at Taipei Medical University. Furthermore, in 2019, APLI proudly joined forces as one of the co-hosts of the 2019 World Laser Medicine Congress (WLMC), which garnered participation from over 600 individuals and delegations representing 26 countries. In 2022, through collaboration with the Academy of Laser Dentistry (ALD), the most esteemed dental laser society worldwide, APLI successfully awarded Standard Level Certificates to 77 dentists, while also facilitating on-site training for 200 participants and online learning for approximately 800 participants from 35 countries.

Driven by an unwavering commitment to education, collaboration, and innovation, APLI continues to shape the landscape of laser dentistry in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
