Dr. Sun graduated from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry in 1981. Since 1983, she has been operating a comprehensive cosmetic dentistry practice and dental laboratory in the Beverly Hills area of California. Her dedication to delivering exceptional treatment and experiences has earned recognition from The Wall Street Journal. Dr. Sun employs diverse laser wavelengths across a spectrum of dental procedures. A committed education advocate, Dr. Sun holds prestigious titles, including Master of the Academy of General Dentistry and Master + Educator of the Academy of Laser Dentistry. Serving two terms as a board member of the Laser Dental Institute, she currently holds a position on the executive committee. Dr. Sun is a Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the pioneering female Fellow acknowledged by the Academy. She dedicated 7 years to the Academy's Professional Education Committee. The recipient of the esteemed Leon Goldman Laser Dentistry Clinical Excellence Award, Dr. Sun delivers international lectures on laser and cosmetic dentistry education. She holds a Mastership with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and serves as a Senior Instructor for the International Association for Orthodontics.

Dr. Sun, a California-certified dental acupuncturist and owner of her dental laboratory, has championed surgical and therapeutic lasers for 30 years. She advocates for low-level laser therapy and photobiomodulation (PBM) red light therapy, both for treatment-based applications and as part of regular self-care routines. In recent years, Dr. Sun has synergistically integrated PBM therapy and acupuncture into her treatment model, effectively addressing patients' pain relief needs, optimizing treatment outcomes, and expediting recovery. Recognized by peers as a leading U.S. dentist from 2005 to 2011, she was bestowed the title of best dentist by Los Angeles Magazine in 2018.

Shigeyuki Nagai, DDS, PhD

President (2026), Academy of Laser Dentistry

Dr. Shigeyuki Nagai received his DDS from the Osaka Dental University, Japan in 1987 and studied at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine as a Clinical Fellow from 1989-1992. He practiced at the Massachusetts Veterans Administration Medical Center and the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital in 1991. He received his PhD from Tokyo Medical and Dental University. Dr. Nagai serves as a Board member of the Academy of Laser Dentistry, the Japanese Society for Laser Dentistry, Asia-Pacific Division of the World Federation for Laser Dentistry, the Country representative of WFLD, and Vice President of the Japanese Academy of Color for Dentistry. He is a committee member of the Japan Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, Japan Society for Laser Surgery and Medicine, and Japan Association of Microscopic Dentistry. He was awarded the Leon Goldman Award for Clinical Excellence in Laser Dentistry in 2010 and Dr. Glenda Payas Outstanding Educator Award in 2022 from the Academy of Laser Dentistry and the Excellent Presentation Prize of the Japanese Academy of Color for Dentistry in 2008. Dr. Nagai maintains a full-time private dental practice in Tokyo, Japan and visiting lecturer at Tokyo Medical and Dental University Photoperiodontics, Department of Periodontology.
