Production Review/Argumentative Script Analysis
Throughout the course of the semester, you must complete one production review and one argumentative script analysis.
You may choose which assignment to complete during 3rd quarter, and which to complete during 4th quarter. Keep in mind that there will be more WCPSS plays and musicals in production in March and April - don't wait until the last minute!
You may attend the preview performance of our spring musical, 9 to 5, on Wednesday, February 28th at 7:00 pm (for free!) and use this for your production review. Save the date!
These assignments are due on Canvas by midnight on the day of the deadline, and may be submitted early and in any order. A list of upcoming production at Wake County Schools will be posted under Canvas announcements.
Deadline for Quarter 3 - Friday, March 22nd
Deadline for Quarter 4 - Friday, May 24th
Important Dates
Regional Shakespeare Competition – Thursday, February 15th at 6:00 pm - Kenan Hall, William Peace University
National Shakespeare Competition - Saturday, April 13-Monday, April 15, New York City! Finals will take place in the Mitzi Newhouse Theatre at Lincoln Center - an amazing venue!! This is the same weekend as the chorus trip to Charleston. If selected to attend Nationals, you would have to choose between the two opportunities.
Midterm Performance (Theatre IV Directs) – Wednesday, March 6th at 6:00 pm (Call time 5:30) - Weather Makeup Date Friday, March 15th
III/IV Show – put these dates on your calendar now! In-Class dates are highlighted in pink. After School Rehearsal dates are highlighted in yellow.
March 8 - Audition Workshop
March 12-14 - Auditions (in class). Prepare a one-minute monologue. Auditions will take place on 2 of these 3 days, depending on when Chorus is scheduled to perform at MPA.
March 14 - Finish Auditions, or Begin Callbacks (Depending on when Chorus is scheduled to perform at MPA)
March 15th - Callbacks in class, and after school until 3:15 pm.
March 18 - Read-Thru in class.
March 19-21 - After School Rehearsal 2:30-3:45
April 1, 2, 5 - After School Rehearsal 2:30-3:45
April 9 - After School Rehearsal 2:30-3:15
April 11 - After School Rehearsal 2:30-3:45
April 17-19 - After School Rehearsal 2:30-3:45
April 22, 24-26 - After School Rehearsal 2:30-4:30
April 30-May 3 - Tech Rehearsal 2:30-5:00. Afternoon AP exams are excused absences for these rehearsals (but we appreciate if you join us when your exam is finished!!) No other absences allowed.
May 6-7 - Dress Rehearsal 2:30-5:30. Afternoon AP exams are excused absences for these rehearsals (but we appreciate if you join us when your exam is finished!!) No other absences allowed.
May 8 - Preview Performance! Call time 6:00, show at 7:00
May 9 - Opening! Call time 6:00, show at 7:00
May 11 - Performances at 2:00 and 7:00 pm. Call time 1:00, dinner provided.
*If you have morning AP exams, you ARE expected to attend 4th period and after school rehearsals for the production. Afternoon AP exams are considered an excused absence.
Final Performance (Sketch Comedy) – Tuesday, June 4th, call time 5:30 pm. Performance begins at 6:00.
End of Year Banquet and ITS Award Ceremony - Friday, June 7th, 4:00-6:00 pm.
