The Gift of Reading is a University Social Responsibility program initiated by Akademi Pengajjian Bahasa (APB) Kampus Jengka aiming to nurture the love of reading among pupils in the rural areas and provide suitable reading materials to the rural schools involved.
The program, which was held for the first time in collaboration with Pertubuhan Amal Penduduk Jengka (PADUKA) a non-Governmental Organization (NGO), saw a large number of reading materials in English and Malay being donated to Sekolah RKebangsaan Bandar Jengka. A Smart Partnership Memorandum signing ceremony was held between UiTM Pahang Branch and Sekolah Kebangsaan Bandar Jengka on 5 December 2020 marking a continuous collaboration between APB and SK Bandar Jengka for continued educational programmes that are hoped to instill the love of reading among the pupils and eventually help them improve their language skills.
The programme which focuses the 4th sustainable Development Goal (Quality Education) is hoped to benefit the parties involved.

The program was organized by the Academy of Language Studies of UiTM Pahang branch Jengka Campus with two main objectives; to nurture the interest of reading among rural students in Jengka and to create an English reading program platform for rural students.
The Book Distribution Ceremony and 'Virtual Reading Aloud' activity were the two main agendas of the program. The activity was conducted virtually on November 12, 2021 involving Year 6 students from Sekolah Kebangsaan Desa Jaya.
Focusing on the 4th sustainable Development Goal (Quality Education), it is hoped that the community service programme can benefit the parties involved, especially the pupils of Sekolah Kebangsaan Desa Jaya , Bandar Jengka.

On 15 July 2021, there was a brief session of handing over books between the Academy of Language Studies (APB) UiTM Pahang Branch Jengka Campus and SK LKTP Jengka 21 (SK Jengka 21). A total of 373 books in the form of reading materials in Malay and English were donated to PSS SK LKTP Jengka 21 in UiTM's efforts to empower quality education (SDG 4). Book Endowment: 'Gift of Reading 3.0' is one of APB's initiatives to foster interest in reading among school students. It is hoped that this effort will become a point of departure for the culture of reading and the improvement of literacy among students and further contribute to the progress of quality education in Malaysia.
The activity carried out in this program is the Book Endowment where the APB UiTM Pahang Branch has handed over a total of 373 reading materials in English and Malay to SK LKTP Jengka 21 school in a brief ceremony attended by the Chairperson of the program, Mrs. Suzaini Harmiruslin Supian, Teacher Principal of SK (LKTP) Jengka 21, Mr. Herman bin Harun, Head of the English Language Committee of SK (LKTP) Jengka 21, Mrs. Razita binti Abd Hamid and several lecturers of APB UiTM Pahang Branch.
The highlight of this program is an English book reading themed activity where a book titled "What Is your Dream?" was chosen to be read together with the students. This activity named "3 Stars and a Dream" involved 48 Year 6 students and was conducted face-to-face at SK (LKTP) Jengka 21.
A total of 18 facilitators consisting of lecturers from the Academy of Language Studies, UiTM Pahang Branch have helped the students to read and understand the book. In order to further strengthen students' understanding, the activity of composing a short essay and "Sing Along" was held at the end of the program.
The participants who attended the program were satisfied with the activities carried out and stated that it had instilled an interest in reading, especially English reading materials among them.
It is hoped that the programme can be continued so that it can become a starting point for increasing the reading culture among school students and further contribute to the quality education of the local community.
