Blackboard Ultra is Blackboard’s new LMS (Learning Management System) which will replace our current LMS, Blackboard Learn (Original).
In broad outline, Blackboard Ultra contains the same functionalities and tools as our existing LMS, although surrounded by a much improved and modernized interface. We believe that Blackboard Ultra is the system that best suits and supports our students by allowing an expansion of our learning ecosystem for creativity, collaboration and a hub for academic learning.
All of Campbell University, including Main Campus, Online, and all the other locations will be migrating to Blackboard Ultra by January 2024.
The Instructional Design Team will coordinate a managed transition process. The team will migrate your courses for you and meet with you once that process has been done. Please follow the process steps located in your Blackboard Ultra Academy Training Course.
Once the migration is complete and you have met with the Instructional Design Team, you will be able to make adjustments to your courses.
The Instructional Design Team will convert one course first and meet with you to discuss what you like about the format of the Ultra view and what changes you would like made. Then, we will fix that first course and then work on converting the rest of your courses in a similar manner. All of your courses will be initially converted by the ID Team.
Should I use a Folder or a Learning Module to organize my content?
BENEFITS OF FOLDERS AND LEARNING MODULES
Both present content in an organized manner for easy navigation
Both collapse for a streamlined view of materials
Both include a sub-folder (i.e., a folder inside of a folder or a folder inside of a learning module; you can not nest a learning module inside a learning module, nest a learning module inside of a folder, or nest beyond 2 levels)
Both can be used to set overall release conditions to control access to content, such as releasing content on a specific date or to a specific group of students
Both can be copied from past courses as a block of materials with all of the contents inside
BENEFITS OF LEARNING MODULES
Students can navigate from one item to the next via forward and back arrows
You can enable sequential viewing to require that students view content or complete an assessment before moving to the next item
With sequential viewing enabled, the learning module displays checkmarks to show students what they have completed
Yes! Panopto is still available and can easily be integrated into your courses! We recommend embedding the Panopto videos into a document and you can include directions, the learning outcomes, or other content on the document with your videos.
Yes! It is very easy to use Respondus in Blackboard Ultra!
Please view the "Respondus in BB Ultra" page on this website to learn how to implement Respondus in your courses.
