Blackboard Ally is a tool that integrates with Blackboard to provide data on the accessibility of your course and its content.
With Blackboard Ally, you can:
Provide multiple formats of your content to learners
Review your content and make adjustments to improve accessibility all within one location in your course
Let’s take a look…
Each course has its own report to review and make changes. This Accessibility Report can be found in the course management section under the course tools.
It notes all the items of content in the circle graph by type. On the right, you can click start to begin revising the items to better meet the accessibility standards.
What does the instructor need to do to generate alternative formats for a content item?
Nothing. Ally automatically picks up on any existing or new materials, runs it through the accessibility checklist, and makes the alternative formats available to both the student and the instructor.
What threshold is used for the color of the accessibility indicator?
An accessibility score is provided with every document which is a percentage score that reflects how accessible the item is. Accessibility is a spectrum where further improvements are always possible. However, once an item is in the green zone it should be doing reasonably well.
