Identify suspicious activity and gather evidence. Document!
Use various detectors: Turnitin, GPTzero, ChatGPT etc.
Know that AI detectors are not perfect and can give provide false results
Confront the student via email
“I have noticed…”
“Give you the opportunity to explain…”
“Next steps”
Consult with colleagues & decide on your course of action
Report this to Instructional Design Team or campus advisors.

Academic Integrity and Use of AI in This Course
Welcome to the course! As part of maintaining the highest academic standards, it is important to understand that academic integrity is expected from all students. The use of AI tools, such as AI-generated writing or assistance in completing discussion boards, papers, or any other assignments, is not allowed without prior approval from me. We utilize various AI detection tools to ensure that work submitted is your own, and any violation of this policy will not be tolerated.
If you are caught violating this policy, I will reach out directly to you to discuss the situation. Additionally, if the case is reported to the university, you will be required to complete an academic dishonesty training, and this will go on your academic record.

AOE Syllabus Academic Integrity & Plagiarism Statement
All students are subject to the academic integrity and behavioral expectations of the University as found in the Undergraduate Bulletin. Campbell University’s Academic Integrity Policy can be found on Campbell website in and Academic Catalog. Cheating or plagiarism can be penalized with an F for the assignment, an F in the course, or suspension from the university. Determining if there is evidence of cheating lies with the Professor. In the event there is evidence of cheating, the Professor may require additional evaluations of knowledge.
If any student plagiarizes or cheats in a course, the misconduct will be reported to the campus office, and the student will be blocked from registering for any further courses until the student has successfully undergone academic integrity counseling.
ChatGPT or other programs that generate text, images, or other products through artificial intelligence may not be used in academic submissions of any kind (including discussion posts) without explicit faculty permission.
All instructors are encouraged to add or revise this statement that fits the needs of their courses.
