Welcome

I'm Antoinette Roberts, a registered Educational Psychologist with more than 20 years of experience. I offer therapy and assessments in person at my practice in Kempton Park or online.

My clients include children, adolescents, and young adults struggling with a wide range of difficulties such as anxiety, interpersonal conflict, self-esteem, mood disorders including depression, and learning barriers for example dyslexia. I have a special interest in neurological disorders like attention deficit and/or hyperactivity disorders (ADD/ADHD). I offer guidance and therapy for children and/or families that suffered from divorce, trauma, bereavement, and loss. Apart from therapy, I provide assessment services including psycho-educational assessments (scholastic and IQ tests).

Every client is unique, so I adapt my therapy to suit each individual's needs.

I am passionate about my work and regularly attend courses to ensure that I stay updated with the latest developments in the field.

Education & Training

I completed my BA degree, Higher Educational Diploma, and Honours in Psychology from North-West University. Thereafter I attained my Honours in Education with a specialization in Psychology and my Masters in Education with a specialization in Psychology from UNISA (cum laude).

From 2000 to 2013 apart from building my private practice, I rendered my psychological services to students at the different campuses of Ekurhuleni West College, including Kempton Park, Germiston, Tembisa, and Boksburg, where I regularly presented self-developmental courses on weekends, motivational talks, and study skills.

I assisted in a joint program between the South African Military, Air Force, and Medical division from 2010 to 2013 that aided learners from disadvantaged communities to repeat and improve their matric results. This enabled them to be selected for positions in the different South African divisions.

Since 2017 apart from my private practice, I have been working at Dr. W K du Plessis School for learners with special educational needs due to neurological disorders (epilepsy, ADHD, etc.) and learning barriers (dyslexia).

Currently, I am also involved with the training sessions of Christian Youth Workers that are based at different schools in Ekhurhuleni.

Throughout my career, I have been invited as a speaker and also presented several training sessions to teachers, psychologists, and parents on subjects such as working memory, normal and complex sexual development and behaviour, and safe technology use among learners.

Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR)

Psyco-educational assessments

This is usually necessary to understand a child's strengths and weaknesses and to make suggestions to assist a child to function and perform the best she/he can. This includes:

IQ tests
scholastic tests (reading, spelling and numeracy)
tests and questionnaires relevant to the specific problem(s)
