I worked at GT4 Events from September 2023 through to March 2025 when I moved up to Vancouver to be closer to my family. GT4 Events is the event production parent company of six different catering companies; CP Fine Catering, Continental Caterers, Feast For A King Catering, Tutte Al Forno, Parsley Sage Rosemary & Time, and BarWorks.
When I started at GT4, I was hired as a Junior Event Production Manager just out of college. Since being there I filled all sorts of roles and learned a lot. In the beginning, I worked events and in office to help with production. I created graphics and menus in Canva and helped sales managers update their banquet event orders.
Over the next months I moved to focus more on office work like graphic design and production prior to the event instead of direct event work. We used the Tripleseat production software and during my time there, I learned the ins and outs. I helped troubleshoot problems as they arose and cleaned up the organization of docuements like our kitchen order and our internal BEO. I helped organize and maintain systems to create a more efficient and effective event timeline from start to finish.
Branding and marketing became a part of my job and I created brand kits for each company. I standardized email signatures and updated all of the sales team. The parent company, GT4 Events did not have a logo or standardized branding so I worked with the Owners and the Director of Sales to create a logo and email signature for our office and warehouse personnel. I helped update and order business cards as they were needed and gave any new employees the correct branding information they each needed.
In March of 2024, we acquired BarWorks Catering down in San Diego and I was assigned to onboarding them into Tripleseat and teaching the new employees how to use it. I took over new sales leads and established current package standards. I traveled down to San Diego and helped train new Sales Managers as they were hired. During the acquisition process, I consulted on the new logo creation and rebranding. We created a new branch for the Bay Area, and update the offerings provided.
During the Fall of 2024, as we were hiring more people to accommodate the growth of BarWorks, I moved back to focusing on in office communication and systems. I became the main point of communication between the sales managers, the warehouses, the kitchen, and the staffing manager. Any time updates were made I would hand write information for the kitchen and the two warehouses as well as communicate to the leads of each area. I created more efficient modes of communication and I worked on narrowing down any problems that arose from vague or limited details on the BEO. When events were added late or if something changed, I would be the one to make sure the information made it to those who needed to know. I wrote schedules and printed the information for our weekly production meetings.
Throughout my entire time at GT4 Events I was in charge of creating graphics and organizing content in aesthetically pleasing ways. I helped write proposals for vendors and meeting menus for venues to use when scheduling new clients. I created new systems for dietary restriction signage and overall menu signage.
I learned a lot during my time at GT4 and would love to use the skills I learned there in my next position.
Laurie Jimenez started an event company were she takes her guests to visit craft vendor's warehouses. I started helping at these events in 2023 and have done two of her events that she took guests to the Lawn Fawn offices in Orange County, California.
I help create graphics, take pictures and work the weekend event. It is a fun whirlwind of customer service, creation and event logistics.
On July 3, 2020, I opened my Etsy Shop. Since then I have gotten 46 sales. On Social Media, I have grown a Pinteresy, a Facebook, an Instagram, and a TikTok. I learned about supply chain management, and product picture taking. There are a lot of aspects of a small business that I had never thought of that I have been introduced to in the last year and a half. I am so proud of my progress and that I could do this whilst being a full time college student. I can't wait to see where WordsToGiftBy goes.
I started working at The Hub in January 2022 to create events and complete an internship for my degree. The Hub is a part of the University Housing at Chico State and puts on events and programs for residents. I learned events at a college setting and all the aspects that go into it from budget, to marketing, to logistics and more. In August 2022, I was promoted to Senior Staff where I created events but I also helped supervise and manage my colleagues. I was put in charge of our social media presence and created a marketing plan that led to over 900 new followers. I worked hard there and learned a lot about events and management in the process.
I started working for the craft store Creative Escape in May of 2022. I am a sales clerk at a small business and love being able to be creative designing displays and learning about the sales behind the scenes. It is important to have good customer service and be presentable to clients so this job helps me learn and do that on a daily basis.
I took Leadership from when I was 6th grade all the way through to the end of 12th grade. I helped plan rallies, dances, spirit weeks and more in middle school as well as being the class secretary for my grade. In high school, I was introduced to the homecoming parade. In my hometown, homecoming was a big deal and leadership would put together a parade that started at the school, went down town, and came back. We would work with the police to get them involved and would do all the permitting required to drive downtown. Freshman year I was a part of the planning process and learned a lot. In between my freshman and sophomore year, the leadership teacher changed. The new teacher no longer wanted to put on the parade but was required to by the principal. Being the only person left from the team that did it the year before, I was put in charge. As a sophomore I had to create this parade from what I remembered with little help from the adults in the situation. I did this again in my junior and senior year. Leadership, from that experience and from the dances I helped plan, is what made me realize that I wanted to go into event planning.
