21st Century Teaching & Learning

Research on current 21st Century teaching and learning issues in education:

  • Social Media: An annotated bibliography of current research on social media in education with a focus on Twitter.
  • Leadership Models: An overview of leadership styles and how they compare and contrast.
  • Digital Divide: An annotated bibliography of current research on closing the gap between students with and without devices: causes and recommendations.
  • Flipped Classroom: An annotated bibliography of current research on the flipped classroom model. Strategies for success and challenges of the program are outlined.
  • Motivational Theory- Flipped: Applying the research on flipped classroom to motivational theory. The paper provides an overview of how today's learners are motivated and how the flipped classroom can engage learners.
  • Learning Theories: An overview of learning theories and how students learn best.
  • Instructional Technology: An annotated bibliography on historical and current instructional technology programs.
  • Innovative Change- Tech PD: Proposed innovative change model for technology professional development.

Research Proposals

Below are several proposals for research:

  • Web 2.0 Technologies: This study will use a qualitative research methodology, specifically an ethnographic case study research design, to explore how Twitter can be used to increase teacher technology self-efficacy and student engagement.
  • Mobile Devices: This quantitative study will examine student achievement scores between students using their own mobile device and those using the standard deployed technology.
  • Technology Integration: Proposal for a qualitative and quantitative study on teacher technology self-efficacy.
  • Professional Development: The purpose of this study is to determine if modeling and practicing using familiar technology tools in a professional development setting will increase the teacher's self-efficacy to effectively integrate the technology to increase studentengagement.

  • Contemporary Issues: An overview of contemporary issues in education.
