For this project, I had to research and share examples on information security that was reported in media and assess the sources. I also received a certificate for completing cyber training.
One thing that I learned this module is I don't really know how to tell if an article I read is reliable or not. I more often than not just assume it's not especially when one pops up on Facebook.
This article is about the recent ransomware attack’s on Health Care. Ransomware is malware that holds technology, locking it until the victim pays. Ransomware attacks and Data theft have been on the rise in 2024 at an alarming rate. These types of attacks can put patients' physical health at risk. Some ways to prevent these attacks are to stay informed by keeping up to date with the latest news on your health care provider for any disruptions or data breaches. Maintain personal health records on your own devices or printed out. Prepare for medical emergencies like having a backup plan and knowing nearby health care facilities. Practice cybersecurity by using strong and unique passwords and enable two factor authentication. Be vigilant about phishing by using strong antivirus software on all your devices. Confirm appointments! Contact your health care provider to confirm or reschedule if a cyberattack disrupts their normal operations. And, monitor patient portals! Keep an eye on your MyChart for updates on your medical records and communication with health care providers, as these can provide critical information during service disruptions.

Part of my assignment for this module was to complete the CCBC Cybersecurity Training. I couldn't get this certificate until I got 100% on all of the assessments!
