SPORTS JOURNALISM
Sports journalism is the area in which my passion lies. Although I love all aspects of journalism, there's nothing quite like being on the sidelines and using a lens to bring the excitement of the game to the screen. I spent my junior year of JNN on camera as Sports Reporter, and I held the position of Sports Producer my senior year. I produced all of JNN's sports content for the 2023-2024 school year.
This is my Senior year reporting reel. I appeared on camera for sports updates and reports at the beginning of the year while I trained the new reporters. It was definitely a new experience, as I've been used to being lead as opposed to leading others; however, it's been so rewarding getting to see my reporters grow in their abilities over the course of the year. I'm so thankful that I get to provide an example for them to look up to and learn from!
These are two examples of my reporting work junior year. I love looking back at my old videos and seeing how far I've come, and how much farther I can still go!
Here are three instances of me reporting for updates used on our Instagram. The big difference in these videos as opposed to sports reports on the YouTube is that here, I am reading from a teleprompter instead of from memory. For me, these are much more difficult, but it is definitely something I've improved upon throughout my time in JNN.
Every video below is one that I wrote, edited, and produced myself, with some assistance from my two reporters. I am proud of the content that I've put out, especially while juggling responsibilities such as working two jobs, keeping up as an AP/National Merit student, and being involved in multiple extracurriculars.
From the moment I stepped foot on Alabama's campus, I was immediately drawn to the opportunity at the school. Seeing the newsrooms and sets ignited a passion for sports media in me that will continue burning for many many years to come. During my time here, I wish for nothing more than to get involved with CTP.
