LEADERSHIP AND TEAM BUILDING

One thing I hold in high regard as a leader is respect. I treat my team with respect, and I trust them to complete every task to the best of their abilities. To me, my team is not just a team, they're my family! In JNN, I can almost always be found chatting with our members and assisting them with any questions they have while making segments. On sideline crew, I make a point to check everyone's footage throughout the game and offer suggestions to each individual.

When giving tips and criticism, I make an effort to also be encouraging. Journalism has taught me that the way words are presented have a large impact on the way they're received, and I want to make sure my team feels appreciated!

Here is me helping one of our JNN members after she asked me for help with writing. We worked together to figure out the most effective way to present information to make a compelling story about Madison County's new tennis courts.

This image was taken on the sidelines of a home football game while I was checking in with my crew and reviewing footage. I assisted her with choosing the correct settings, tips on framing, and holding the camera steadier.

"Annalise was a good leader from day one, teaching us everything we needed to know about creating sports stories. She threw us into football season head on, but she was always there to assist us for everything we needed, as well as being patient when it came to us making mistakes. I am so grateful to have had Annalise as my sports producer and I have learned so much from her that I plan to use as I continue my high school career."

"Annalise has been such a great mentor to me this year. She leads sideline crew in a way that teaches us but still keeps it fun."

"When I think of a leader who is not only helpful, but an amazing friend... I think of Annalise. She is an amazing producer and has helped me grow in this field so much. She constantly tells us how much she is seeing us grow and how proud she is of us and that we are doing amazing. She keeps us not only interested, but working hard. I wouldn’t be as far as I am in this field with this aspiration without her."
