ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Annalise Kirk and I am a senior at Madison Central High School. I served as JNN's sports reporter and staff member during the 2022-2023 school year, and I currently act as the Sports Producer for the 2023-2024 year. I have also been named the Producer for the Academy of Multimedia and Communications' Sideline Crew, which I have been a member of for 3 years. There I coordinate a team of students to film and make content for Madison Central's sporting events. Outside of journalism, I have been a member of Madison's showchoirs for 6 years, and theatre for 7. I am a National Merit Finalist, ACT 30+ club member, and National Beta Club member. I plan to further my career in journalism over the next four years at the University of Alabama by pursuing a degree in News Media with a minor in Sports Media.

Letter of Recommendation

Football sidelines have always been my happy place. When I chose not to continue doing dance team, I felt like I had lost my place on Friday nights. However, through sideline crew, I have been able to create content that I'm passionate about while still being part of the game.

One of the things I love most about journalism is being able to go out into the real world and get stories that matter. Here is a quick snapshot I got while interviewing the owner of Soulé, a new drink shop in Fondren, on how the Jackson water crisis affected his buisness as well as the community.

Here I was given the incredible opportunity to get inside the University of Alabama's newsroom to take a look at the equipment and set pieces used in the industry. I got to speak with the Director of Alabama Public Radio who was awarded the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award in 2018.
