This week i am going to start getting my score onto logic by getting all the piano chords into the logic file so then i can start layering them and then i can start getting my guitar parts ready to put into Logic. I am also identify which scene to add at the end of the intro because i want to have something behind me when Im performing my cover of Take On Me. For research i am going to do some in depth research into the two main cover from the game which are 'Take On Me' and 'Future Days' and understand the meaning of the songs and why they chose them for the game.
Secondary Research
I am going to research and analyse the two main covers from the game (Future Days and Take On Me) because i want to learn more about the meaning of the songs and why they chose to put that song in the game.
In this clip i am playing around with the chords (Em, C, D, B) and trying to come up with a rythem with my right hand. I was just playing around t=with the chords seeing if i could come up with anything that could add more effect beacuse i wan to build more in certain points of my score.
In this clip i decided to carry on from last week with exparimenting with he drums and try get more of that specific sound i was getting last week while using the drum sticks with the cotton balls on the end.
In this clip i am working with charlie on trying to figure out what type of guitar notes and cords that will work for my track we used the cords Em, C, D, Bm and then coming up with a picking patten. You can hear in this clip us discusing differnt types of picking pattens that i can go and experiment with.
In these clips you can see me working on some different picking pattens that i can layer into my track using some inspiration from what me and charlie were working on, also inspiration from Gustavo Santolla with the song 'Longing' and the simple but so effective picking patten it is the track it is also one of my favourite from the game overall.
My main aim this week was to try get the cords that i found last week onto logic and start creating the rest of the score i have officially decided to use the intro for the tv show adaptaion for my scene.
In this screenshot it shows how i have put the scene i am going to be using in my logic file so i can then use that to help me with te not just the writing but the feel for the scene so i can follow it for reference. Ive got the clip of Youtube and then used a website call Y2mate.com to them make that into a mp4 file and them embeded it into my logic file.
In this screenshot it shows how i have put in my cords that i figured out last week wit the help from Judith i decided that i am going to use the logic instrument Grand Piano so it has that almost darker effect when the cords are played i have decided to have these cords played out throghout the whole song and using them as the base of my score.
You can also see how i have used utomation to fade ut that B chord at the end of the track which suits the clip really well due to that it fades to black so im making it also fade into silence.
This is what the compostion sounds like with just th piano chords and a tiny bit of automation. ------>
This week i was able to start using logic to make my compostion. While doing this i was able to get all the piano chords that i had figured out form last week on to the logic file and was able to then start layering this actvity was useful as it game me chance to let my inspiration go wild and to have a good ground for the rest of my compotion. I was also able to then learn a lot more about logic and how to record piano and to layer different tracks on top each other to then create the effect i have wanted which was inspired by Gustavo Santolla. One thing that didnt go so well was that i had some trouble when getting the piano to be smooth. Next week I will continue to layer other tracks on top of these as well as gain some more knowlage i will do this by doing some research on how to use logic more efficiently.
Also this week due to getting started on the logic and getting the piano down i was then able to focus on getting a main picking pattern on guitar for the whole song. I think this was time well spent beacause i was able to get some help from my class mate Charlie who helped me figure out differnt ways to play the chords as well as many diffent types of picking patterns. This was really benifical because i was bale to get many differnt ideas on what picking pattern i could use as well as some i could layer on top of to create a simular effect that the origanal theme song has. If i were to do this again i would make sure totry a few more differnt keys and do some research on differnt tecneques that could be used to add more depth with guitars. Next week i will get all my guitar tracks and idea onto logic and start layering them to try get the sound that i am looking for, for my composition.
Next week
i want to work on getting my logic done.
i want to start working on reifining my cover of take on me.
do a song comparison of take on me
