I am a first-year student at the University of Witwatersrand studying MBBCH. I aim to be the first doctor in my family and major in Public Health. I aspire to major in Public Health because it offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the health and well-being of communities on a broad scale. Public Health encompasses a diverse range of disciplines and approaches that address the root causes of health issues, focusing on prevention, education, and the promotion of healthy lifestyles.
One of the primary reasons for choosing this field is my deep-seated passion for improving health outcomes and reducing health disparities among different populations. Public Health allows for the development and implementation of policies and programs that can lead to systemic changes, ultimately benefiting entire communities rather than just individual patients.
Additionally, majoring in Public Health provides a platform to address pressing global health challenges such as infectious diseases, environmental health concerns, and access to healthcare. It combines my interests in science, research, and social justice, allowing me to contribute to solutions that can enhance the quality of life for many people.
Furthermore, the interdisciplinary nature of Public Health means I can collaborate with professionals from various fields, including medicine, sociology, and environmental science, to develop comprehensive strategies for tackling health issues. This collaboration not only enriches my learning experience but also prepares me for a dynamic and impactful career.
Majoring in Public Health aligns with my desire to create positive change, promote health equity, and address complex health challenges on a community and global scale. This field offers the perfect blend of scientific inquiry, practical application, and advocacy, making it the ideal choice for my academic and professional aspirations.
This picture is a picture that was taken earlier in the year. I was so proud of myself for working hard and being recognised as one of Eastern Cape's provincial top achievers. Whenever I feel demotivated, I always go back to this picture and promise myself I will never let this girl down.
I am interested in environmental studies and I am deeply interested in understanding how health systems function and how public health initiatives can improve population health. The dynamics of healthcare delivery, policy development, and the implementation of universal health coverage are particularly fascinating to me. I am keen on exploring ways to reduce health disparities and enhance access to quality healthcare services for all individuals.
For fun, I like reading novels and listen to old school music like RnB. I also love watching movies and drawing portraits.
