Join the group!
We are seeking students and postdocs to join our statistical genetics research group.
If you are interested in joining as a postdoc, our ad is here.
We draw students from the HG and GGSB PhD programs. Feel free to reach out if you are considering a stat gen PhD at UChicago.
We can often support one or two undergraduate or MS students if they are currently at UChicago. Please do reach out--at minimum, I can point you to other excellent UChicago researchers
We have several specific project ideas around subtyping complex traits and diseases, including:
New clustering algorithms to find biologically meaningful subtypes in noisy, confounded, and high-dimensional data.
New statistical interaction tests to validate subtypes with polygenic signals, functional genomics, and hierarchical subtypes.
Disease applications in psychiatric, metabolic, and immune domains using rich phenotypes and large biobanks.
Improving inference of cell type, cell state, and microenvironments in single cell data.
We are also happy to discuss project ideas you might have that use statistics or computation to elucidate the genetic basis of complex traits.
To get a sense of our lab you can see our orientation manual
**We strongly encourage applications from underrepresented groups**
