Moscow 2009, during happier times there
Moscow 2009
I was fortunate to spend the whole of May 2009 in Moscow studying Russian at Moscow State University (MGU), and gaining my TЭУ certificate. (And the Eurovision Song Contest!)
While there I had a great time at Troitsk radio club, RK3DXB.

A visit from Andy G0SFJ 0:42 Am
Hi there all.
Today 10.05.2009 Andy Thomas G0SFJ visited our local Radio Club RK3DXB. Alex RW3DZ introduced him to us. He was second time in our radio club station. Andy met me (Anton RV3DHC), Pavel (newbie for amateur radio), Dmitry RV3DSF and later Katya (student, nice lady) who translated Andy's english to us.
I have 2 video files (.3GP) where Andy shows us how he constructs the Arrow antenna to work through the amateur satellites. He got also a portable radio by Yaesu FT-51R as a duplex one to use 70cm and 2m together in satellite operation.
First video is for constructing Arrow antenna (made in USA) (NB - this is on RV3DHC's blog).
Second video is for listening amateur satellite AO-51 from RK3DXB location (KO85pl) with 17 degrees of Elevation. Local time was 16:55 MSK when AO-51 flight in space and we heard it.(NB - this is on RV3DHC's blog).
Later on, in orbit of 18.29 MSK Andy tried to call somebody on AO-51 because the satellite has better Elevation for us - 65 degrees. But it was something wrong with his FT-51R radio. In the end of its orbit John G7HIA called us on satellite and Andy had QSO with him and OZ1MY. He said - "Your radio works great. Thank you." ;)
Andy also bring a little bottle of Scotch Whisky. I thought it is a cogniac but it was wrong way to think about. I liked that drink. :) Also I have 2 images with:
Arrow antenna (3el for 144 MHz, 7el for 430 MHz) by G0SFJ -(NB - this is on RV3DHC's blog). Paper explanation "HOWTO easy to get AMSAT data and get its orbit for your location"
We waiting again for visit from Andy".
The second image shows how I draw the anticipated track of the satellite on paper before the satellite pass, and then I take the paper with me and orient it North/South. This means I don't use a PDA any more!
It was also a great pleasure to meet Vladimir, RK3ARZ at MGU.
My thanks and greetings to all my Russian friends!
We hope for peace again soon...
