CQ Magazine

Sorry but I didn't have time to do proper scans, I just used my phone to capture the pages. I got a mention in CQ magazine (an American publication) back in 2012 for some of my QRP activities thanks to Cam Hartford. Francis KF7ET sent me the magazine by post (now silent key) back in the day for which I was most grateful. Thanks for your ham spirit !

You can also see my FT817 set up using my little ATU box that used an old Midland 77-805 CB antenna as the element, and included an LF pre-amp section so that I could connect a small wire loop to it for RX only purposes and a dummy load.

To read the text in the photos you may have to download the pics and zoom in (they ARE readable) or I think on some browsers you can tap on the pics to automatically enlarge them.

The original CB was irreparable but the antenna section was of use to me so I used it. Left is a picture of the CB rig in question. I actually used two of these rigs many years ago since I was fascinated by the idea of a box that has a rig, battery pack and self contained antenna. It worked really well and there were AM and FM versions available.

For some reason the self containment or form factor of that old CB is better than operating an FT817 , but only one band. Shame about the users though.
