Short Description: I have a degree in Physics from the University of Lisbon and a Ph.D. in network theory from the Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal. I was a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Calgary, Canada, where I developed stochastic models of gene networks. In 2008, I started the Laboratory of Biosystem Dynamics at Tampere University, Finland, to study the dynamics and regulatory mechanisms of bacterial gene expression, from single genes up to large-scale networks. Currently, we focus on the genome-wide effects of antibiotics on bacterial gene networks.
