 Lore Document Sample - The Nugar and the Silent Disaster 

Sci-fi RTS | Alien Faction and related Leader | Lore Document (one page long) 

As a result of a writing submission, I created and summarised the history, culture and qualities of a faction and its leader. Since it would have referred to a sci: fi real-time strategy game, the goal was to give the player essential information to characterise the faction and make it compelling. 


The structure of the text was divided into four paragraphs: the introduction would instigate the curiosity of the player; the second paragraph covers practical notions of its culture and possible application in-game, strategy-wise. The rest of the text tells the Nugar history, while the ending introduces the leader in the second text. As for the leader, the outline is similar: the first paragraph focuses a bit more on giving a sense of suspense as Aksa would be the character the player would immerse in, ideally. The second paragraph continues the faction's narration, delving into its society's struggles and the leader's peculiarities. The third and last one explains the current situation and her influence, opening an ambiguous interpretation of whether she is the Nugar saviour or their doom.

Item Descriptions + Connected lines in the following branching dialogue | MoonXrossed Princess (JRPG)

The first encounter with the antagonist leads the PC to a lovely chat before a magical teacup, brewed with the plants the player has chosen from the witch's backyard (fetch quest). The latter asks the PC: "Who are you now? Which plants better represent you?" This will affect what Miyuki sees at the bottom of the mug, meaning what she can foresee for her future: as is the default in this game, there are different options, still completely based on the different combinations possible (branching dialogue options).

Starting from the plants' symbolism: the first tier of nodes holds the in-game descriptions, while the second one lists each dialogue option available during the conversation with the witch. 

Reward: as the game loop is based on reputation and relationships to become stronger in combat and reach the perfect ending, the dialogue and related quest unlocks the relationship (connection) with the NPC.
