Fellowships

Madalena Lacerda - Supervision of the Research Fellow within Project Audits Due dilligence (cc110303). Collaboration with the work to be developed under the Atlas project and wind potential databases (110304), and collaboration in the ATT contract between LNEG and EDP-R for the monitoring of EDP-Renewables wind farms. Wind data processing and development of methodologies for the development of inconsistencies in the energy production of wind farms. Start February 2017 until February 2018.

Ana Rita Silva - Supervision of the FCT PhD Fellow. "Modeling of Virtual Renewable Power Plants". October 2017 to March 2021 within Project IRPWind - Integrated Research Programme on Wind Energy. Development of the concept of Virtual Renewable Power Plant (CRV) through mathematical optimization models (MILP) that allow modeling the behavior of a CRV consisting of a wind power plant, a photovoltaic plant and two water plants. Start in January 2017 to September 2018.

Duarte Santos - Supervision of the Research Fellow of NEWA Project - New European Wind Atlas (cc110319).  Data processing LiDAR for the elaboration of maps of orography, height of vegetation and buildings in the area of the experience of serra do Perdigão with high spatial resolution. Wind data processing obtained by conventional and ultrasound anemometry. Collaboration in the 110304 and 110303. Start in May 2016 until December 2018.

João Silva - Supervision of the Research Fellow within project Atlas and Wind Potential Databases (cc110304).  Evaluation of wind potential and estimates of energy production of wind farms, as well as periodic control of the quality of data from the anemometric stations of the database. August 2014 to December 2015. Evaluation of the impact of atmospheric stability on the flow over hills/islands based on observations and methods of characterization of the same, with the purpose of improving the annual estimates of wind production and quantifying the impact of orographic disturbances under different conditions of atmospheric stability. Careful analysis of the data observed on Berlenga Island in order to allow an improvement in the correction of the disturbed flow through the island. April 2015 to March 2019.

António Couto - Supervision of LNEG Research Fellow, in the following periods/themes:

• FCT Project – FCOMP-01-0124-FEDER-016080 (Ex-PTDC/SEN-ENR/114178/2009) "Fluct.wind: Characterization and categorization of power fluctuations in wind generators through time-frequency analysis with onduletas". Characterization of fluctuations in wind production in the domain of time and frequency. Correlation and categorization of fluctuations in wind production. Correlation between climatic states and extreme ramps of wind production. Contribution to the development of an alert tool for the system operator based on wind production forecasts. October 2012 to August 2013.

• Atlas and Wind Potential Databases. Evaluation of the potential and estimates of energy production of Wind Farms application of the procedures for verifying the power curve of wind turbines according to IEC 61400-12-1. January 2010 to September 2012 and September 2013 to December 2015.

• Project ENER/FP7/296050/DEMOWFLOAT "Demonstration of the WindFloat technology". Collaboration in the development of wind resource assessment techniques in deep water regions and in the adaptation and application of power curve verification procedures for floating wind turbines.  April 2015 to June 2015.

• PROJECT FP7/609795/IRPWIND "Integrated Research Programme on Wind Energy". Development of turbine/wind farm aggregation models. Probabilistic predictions of wind production based on results of numerical models of mesoscala coupled with statistical techniques. September 2014 to September 2017.

• Atlas and Wind Potential Databases (cc110.304): Development of several national and international wind atlases and wind potential (onshore and offshore) using numerical modeling of mesoscala. Development of NEPS energy production maps for the purposes of the RCCTE regulation - Decree Law 118/2013. Determination of energy production estimates and micro-positioning studies of Wind Farms. • Project FP7/219048/NORSEWInD "Northern Seas Wind Index Database". Application and use of methodologies of atmospheric modeling of mesoscala with assimilation of wind data from satellite (offshore) and ZephIR/Lidar Instruments installed on Berlengas Island for wind atlas production and wind resource along the Portuguese western coast and in the North Sea. Development of spatial wind validation methodologies in the Berlengas region and replicated to the North Sea. April 2010 to September 2012.

• Project IEE/09/898/SI2.558294/SEANERGY. "Delivering offshore electricity to the EU: spatial planning of offshore renewable energies and electricity grid infrastructures in an integrated EU maritime policy". Contribution to the development and planning of coastal planning plans in some European countries, including Portugal, Spain and Ireland.  May 2010 to June 2012.

• FP7/609795/IRP project. Wind "integrated Research Programme on Wind Energy". Development of numerical methodologies and algorithms for probabilistic numerical predictions for monitoring the dispatch of wind production and application of methodologies for the development of atmospheric circulation regimes conducive to the generation of wind production ramps September 2014 to December 2015.

• FP7/ERA-NET Plus/NEWA Project "New European Wind Atlas".  Application and use of methodologies for processing orography and height of the plant cover in the Perdigão region for the purpose of validating wind estimates based on CFD modeling around the Perdigão Mountain Range". July to December 2015.

Raquel Marujo - Guidance of the Research Fellow of LNEG/INETI, in the following periods/themes: Atlas and Wind Potential Databases. Paulo Bonifácio - Supervision of the Research Fellow of LNEG/INETI, in the following periods/themes: Project "REIVE - Intelligent Electric Networks with Electric Vehicles (smart Vehicle to Grid). Analysis of energy quality in terms of harmonic distortion in low voltage electrical networks, incorporating intelligent load nodes of batons in electric vehicles, renewable microgeneration of energy and housing, based on models and simulations in Matlab and Simulink. Ricardo Santo - Supervision of the Research Fellow of LNEG/INETI, in the following periods/themes:

Application of methodologies for the development of roadmaps in a case study Portuguese; b) Collection and processing of information on the national offshore wind sector  , for the identification of barriers, mitigating measures and key dates for the development of this area in Portugal. July to December 2012.

João Pôtra - Supervision of the Research Fellow of LNEG/INETI, in the following periods/themes:

T.Urban Project. Scholarship Period - February 2007 to September 2009. Development of two models of wind turbine for electricity microgeneration. The grantee developed his activity in the development phase of the two prototypes – horizontal axis and vertical axis – having also participated in the testing phase of the same.

Armando Alexandre – Supervision of the Research Fellow of LNEG/INETI, in the following periods/themes: T.Urban Project between August 2007 and March 2008. The grantee developed his activity, in the implementation phase of simulation models leading to the development of horizontal and vertical axis prototypes, in particular with regard to the development of 3D geometric models to be inserted in the simulations performed, based on the SolidWorks computer program.

Bruno Lamez - Supervision of the Research Fellow of LNEG/INETI, in the following periods/themes:

Atlas Project and Wind Potential Databases. Evaluation of wind potential and estimation of PE production. (December 2005 to August 2008). The grantee collaborated in the consulting component to the business fabric and in the implementation of methodologies for evaluating wind potential in complex environments. It also collaborated in turbine power curve verification activities and site calibration procedures in accordance with European standard IEC61400.12.1" and on the wind tunnel anemometer calibration component.

Domingos Correia - Supervision of the Research Fellow of LNEG/INETI, in the following periods/themes: Project "Evaluation of The Energy Potential of Wind and Evaluation of Wind Farms Performance. Verification of the power curve of turbines and site calibration procedure according to european standard IEC61400.12.1". (2003-2006). From August 2006, collaboration in the T.Urban project until June 2007, when he ceased his collaboration as an INETI fellow.

Pedro Paulino - Supervision of the Research Fellow of LNEG/INETI, in the following periods/themes:

T.Urban Project between December 2007 and August 2008. The grantee developed his activity in the initial phase of testing of the T.Urban 2H wind turbine model, having also collaborated in the Berlenga Sustainability Laboratory project.

João Lameira - Supervision of the Research Fellow of LNEG/INETI, in the following periods/themes:

R&D work subject to the theme "Development of Dynamic Models of Current Turbines and Wind Farms on friendly programming platforms". (2006-2007).

Ricardo Trindade - Supervision of the Research Fellow of LNEG/INETI, in the following periods/themes: T.Urban Project. Developed his activity in the topics; Evaluation of the aerodynamic performance of TEEV and TEEH rotors using FLUENT and other non-commercial software and; Pre-dimensioning of various structural components of TEEV and TEEH. He later collaborated in the projects/contracts for the evaluation of wind potential (cc 110304) and estimated the production of Wind Farms. (2007 to 2008).
