An Intimate View
The Southern Finger Lakes region is known for its natural beauty and world famous sites including Keuka and Seneca Lakes, Watkins Glen gorge and racetrack, the Mark Twain Study, numerous wineries, and the Corning Museum of Glass. Those of us who live locally have surely seen the touristy photographs of these locations and likely have enjoyed documenting our own visits to these places with our cameras and cell phones. An Intimate View proposes to expand this personal view by emphasizing the not-so famous parts of the Southern Finger Lakes. My journey through the four counties of Chemung, Steuben, Schuyler and Tioga led me to discover the places and things that speak to me (sometimes in whispers) about living in this area. With these photographs, I explore the familiar to discover the unfamiliar that surrounds us everyday. I invite you to look, look closely, look again and again.
Fifteen selections from the slide show at right will be printed and exhibited in August at various venues in the four counties. An exhibition later in the year will unite the photographs into one show open to the public. Please check exhibition schedule for information.
