This phase defines completion of the project and when the project has been turned over to the owner, and the project is being scheduled and delivered. Closing the project allows for tying up loose ends (usually administrative), but it also allows for project evaluation to occur. The following activities should occur during closing:
The Project Manager should obtain agreement on deliverables, usually via a signature on the Project Charter. A project closure report is recommended as a way to document official closure.
Finally, it is highly recommended that a Post-project Review be conducted. This event will bring closure to the project, review project performance, identify open issues, and document lessons learned for future projects.
