IPECC is the one of the most commonly-known project management models. It has five phases:
Initiating - Vision for the project is communicated in this phase and project goals are established. Scope and expectations are defined.
Planning - In this phase, the scope is refined and a team is assembled. Specific tasks and activities to be done are identified. A project plan, schedule and budget are created.
Executing - Goals are accomplished in this phase by building the project and developing and leading a team who is able to solve problems presented in the project.
Controlling - This phase entails monitoring the project so that necessary adjustments in expectations, schedules and/or goals may be achieved.
Closing - This phase includes delivery of the project, acknowledgement of results, assessment of project success, and creation of a project evaluation.
