The Groupe d'Analyse et de Théorie Economique (GATE) at the Saint-Etienne School of Economics, in cooperation with the Institute for Logic, Language and Computation (ILLC) at the University of Amsterdam, will host the 4th Amsterdam/Saint-Etienne Workshop on Social Choice on 23-24 April 2026 in Saint-Etienne. Everyone working in the field is very welcome to join.
Previous editions were held in Amsterdam in 2023, Saint-Etienne in 2024, and Amsterdam in 2025.
Registration is free of charge but required for everyone who wants to participate (also for locals, including students, who are very welcome). Please complete this registration form no later than Tuesday, 31 March 2026.
The programme will include invited talks by Sophie Bade (London), Salvador Barberà (Barcelona), Agustín Bonifacio (Saint-Etienne), Théo Delemazure (Amsterdam), Lihi Dery (Ariel), Bettina Klaus (Lausanne), Patrick Lederer (Amsterdam), Barton Lee (ETH Zürich), Philippe Solal (Saint-Etienne), and Anaëlle Wilczynski (Paris-Saclay).
Anyone working on topics related to social choice is cordially invited to participate in the workshop's open poster session. We specifically welcome submissions discussing work in progress, but you are equally welcome to present a poster you are also presenting at another conference.
If you would like to present a poster, please register no later than Friday, 13 March 2026 and include a short description of your poster when you do. We will inform you within one week of this deadline about whether we will be able to accommodate your poster.
We are able to offer travel grants (up to € 300 per person) to a small number of participants. You are eligible for such a grant if you have been accepted for a poster presentation and if your home institutions does not provide adequate funding for attending events such as this.
To apply for a travel grant, please register and submit your poster proposal by Friday, 20 February 2026. If you are a PhD student, we also require an email from your PhD supervisor by the same deadline, in which they confirm both their support for your attendance and their inability to fully fund your trip. We will inform you within one week of this deadline about whether we will be able to award a travel grant to you.
All sessions will be held at Espace Créativité (Room L020), Bâtiment des Forges, Université Jean Monnet, Saint-Etienne.
This is a 15-minute walk from Place Jean Jaures, the main square in the city centre of Saint-Etienne. The closest tram stop is Cité du Design.
