Albaydah Wal Hajar ("The Egg and the Stone") is an experimental electronic psychedelic shaabi album. It draws inspiration from various forms of popular wedding rituals and special occasions rooted in Egyptian customs and traditions. Through a philosophical lens, this album delves into realms beyond the musical, exploring psychedelic and ritual dimensions and their social impacts.
In creating Albaydah Wal Hajar ("The Egg and the Stone"), we relied heavily on experimentation and improvisation. The album features traditional popular rhythms that sustain the dance's continuity, intersected by the bass guitar with experimental and unconventional rhythmic and melodic compositions. Additionally, we incorporated popular and electronic instruments alongside the oud and resampled familiar popular musical phrases. The true experimentation lies in the way these instruments are used and the overall blending of sounds, resulting in an experimental psychedelic soundscape that both evokes familiarity and stirs the unfamiliar.
