Are My Contracts Moving Forward?

Contracts all move through the same process. However, checking up on them can differ from software to software.

SURANCEBAY/SURELC

Once logged in, click Contracting Requests on the left-side menu panel. Your contracts go through three main steps, with the potential for ending up in two other locations.

1: AT PRODUCER

This is essentially your contracting inbox, so nothing should live here. Anything here is either a new contract that has never been submitted or a contracting request that got kicked back for one reason or another.

If a contract gets kicked back, please check the comments below the contract. Then email your Contractor letting them know what contract is At Producer, what the comments say, and the date it was delivered there.

2: AT BGA

This is the Family First Life Corporate office. They review all contracts before sending them off to the carrier. If needed, they kick contracts back to At Producer for you to fix and resubmit.

3: AT CARRIER

Five Business Days, or one week after each contract has been delivered here, you should call that carrier to check on the status of your appointment, and each week thereafter until you receive a welcome email.

COMPLETED or DISCARDED

COMPLETED: Only AIG will ever move to this stage. As long as you have a welcome email with a writing number from A carrier, you're good to go to add that number to HCMS!

DISCARDED: RIP, Contracts. Maybe you accidentally created a new request for a carrier when you meant to select a different one or change your mind about needing it. This is where those contracts go.

NLC (NEXT LEVEL CONTRACTING)

Once logged in, click Requests on the left-side menu panel. From there, your contract could be in a few locations:

Submitted

Your contract was submitted successfully. Hooray! As it gets processed, the little status on it will change a few times. Keep an eye on it to make sure there's nothing more they need from you.

drafts

Something went wrong when you were filling out the contract, and it was not successfully submitted. Check to see if there are any comments attached to the contract, and reach out to your contractor if you have questions about anything you see there!

Carrier contracts

Once your contract is approved by the Carrier, it will appear here. At that point, your Writing Number should automatically appear on your HCMS profile as well. If it doesn't, wait until you get your Welcome Email from the Carrier, then add the Writing Number to HCMS via a Missing Carrier Request.

Carrier processing times vary from 24 hours to 6 weeks.

Unfortunately, we are not able to see any details in your SuranceBay account, or your status with any of the carriers. We're relying on you to check in to SuranceBay daily to make sure everything is moving forward as it should be and does not get kicked back to "At Producer."

After your Contracting Requests in SuranceBay have been At Carrier for a week, you should start the process of calling the Carriers weekly for updates and to make sure there are no issues with your application. It is up to you to check the status of your contracts.

All phone numbers are listed on our carrier info sheet, linked below. Once opened, please go to File > Make a Copy to snag your own fillable version!

John Hancock: Appointment Activation

When JH receives your contracting request, you will receive an email like this. Follow the instructions in that email to activate your appointment and become appointed with them!
