Week 5: Week five was B-U-S-Y for A Midsummer in the Woods. We transitioned into all day rehearsals and finished staging the shows. The cast, crew and set of a Midsummer Night's Dream moved into their new home at Beye School. The cast and crew of Into the Woods, Jr. worked with new props and a gazillion new set elements. The kids rose to every new challenge and kept us moving forward in preparation for a great Tech Week (next week).
Please don't wait to get your tickets to the shows! Get them now (we have PLENTY left). Please feel free to post the show information on Social Media so that we have a great audiences for all of our shows.
If you received an email regarding COSTUME BASICS, please remember to send them with your child on Monday. We begin running the show in costumes on Monday. Also, please send deodorant with your child so that we can keep the costumes fresh.
Week 4: Week four is in the books! This week had a different flow than usual. We started the week as usual with an almost full camp. As the days went on and the fourth of July holiday approached (and passed) our casts and crew began to shrink as many families departed for summer vacations that coincided with the holiday. Monday and Tuesday we forged ahead in rehearsals, costume fittings, and set build. Wednesday, our numbers decreased making it hard to rehearse so we added some fun activities like kickball, dodgeball, and movies. By Friday we had a whopping 50 out of 100 campers in attendance! Smaller groups meant less rehearsal and more fun time. So, it was still a Win-Win Week because who doesn't like fun?
Did I mention that it was the last week of classes? IT WAS THE LAST WEEK OF CLASSES! We are so proud of the work put into and the art created by the kids and instructors in Acting, Dance, Improv, Movie Making and Playwriting classes. Next week, we transition into all day rehearsals!
The casts and crews also began hanging up show posters in the community! We are excited that they are getting the word out about our weekend of shows. Check out photos of them promoting the show in the gallery below.
Parents don't miss your chance to include an encouraging message in the playbill.

WEEK 3: We were busy preparing for Parent's Day during week three of A Midsummer in the Woods. Instructors for classes coordinated to create a showcase that highlighted the growth the kids have made as actors, play writes, and dancers during their first three weeks of CASTSummer. Both A Midsummer Night's Dream and Into the Woods, Jr. had a good chunk of their shows already staged and were able to produce their Parent's Day previews with ease. Crew moved forward building new scenic elements for rehearsal as well as setting up displays and accents for our hall gallery. Monday through Thursday the entire camp pulled together to celebrate and showcase the work that we have put into CASTSummer during the first three weeks. On Friday, we had an absolute blast performing Improv games, sharing our original play ideas, and performing choreography from our Hamilton themed dance class. We hit the auditorium stage with confidence for our sneak peak performances of A Midsummer Night's Dream and Into the Woods, Jr. We really appreciated how encouraging and supportive our audience was. For everyone who was able to make it, we hope you enjoyed Parent's Day!
WEEK 2: This week has given all of us a chance to dive into our shows and crew assignments. Into the Woods and A Midsummer Night's Dream has gotten well into blocking, choreographing, and the overall world of the shows. As for crew, we really have begun to create the wonderful sets! (Check out the video on the About Crew page!) In general, we all can't wait for next week. (Parent's Day!!!)

Crew members should wear long pants everyday to prevent injury to any part of the body (don’t worry - the shop is freezing - even in the summer).
