Hygiene
Staff will ensure that the campus is equipped with all necessary supplies to combat and prevent contact or spread of COVID-19
Students and staff will wash their hands often, including after activities, when entering and exiting a public space, before eating, and after using a restroom.
Students and staff will use soap and water whenever possible; hand sanitizer can be used when soap/water is not available
Residence Etiquette and Social Distancing
Staff will pay attention to local advisories and guidelines provided by medical and government experts and will be mindful of any guidelines imposed by the residential complex where our students and staff reside
Staff will avoid planning any sort of trip to event spaces, activities, or areas where there is high risk for repeated exposure to communal surfaces (museums, bowling alleys, escape rooms, movie theaters, restaurants)
Staff will be attentive to residential complex quarantining policies and ensure students and staff are knowledgeable and respectful of these
When using communal items (video game systems, cards, board games, TV, books, etc.) staff will make sure students and colleagues disinfect themselves and the item before and after usage
When coordinating interactive group activities, wherever possible the staff will limit group size to a reasonable amount. If coordinating larger group activities, staff will organize separate smaller groups in multiple spaces rather than one large group in one space.
Staff and students will practice social distancing – ideally ~6 feet apart. If people play video games or watch a movie, they will do so while respecting this maxim. Staff and students will wash hands and wipe down shared surfaces.
Visitors to the campus will be discouraged and anyone allowed will be at the discretion of the DCO. Visitors will disinfect before interacting with any members of the community. Staff is made aware of all precautionary protocols and when coming on shift will undergo pre-shift sanitation procedure and check.
Students and staff will not share utensils, plates, glasses, video game equipment, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.
Students and staff will be disallowed from all forms of public transportation unless required in an emergency
Common room policies
Students will be asked to avoid residence common spaces; if you use them, please follow appropriate disinfecting procedures
Staff will limit the number of students inhabiting the common area at any given point in time
If a student is sick, the staff will use criteria presented by experts as well as their cautionary discretion to keep them away from the general student population. In all likelihood, students with cold-like symptoms will not have COVID-19 but it is better to keep them away from the community. If staff thinks that a student may be exhibiting flu-like symptoms, staff will take them to the doctor immediately.
Students should only independently order delivery food if following non-contact procedures as outlined by DCO.
Travel and Off-Site Activities
Students and staff will not go off-site for non-essential purposes that are not campus-sponsored events
Staff will be mindful of off-site food service sanitary policies
Staff will not be allowing or conducting any trips that involve malls, public sporting events, amusement parks, or activities that involve large public gatherings
