❤️ Captain Quackers' Curator Notes

"Every dashboard needs a little personality, and Swimmy Fallon was just the duck for the job.

When Nichole decided her car needed a little more duck flair, she found this vacation-ready duck on Amazon. Sold under the wonuu brand as a car dashboard ornament, he arrived dressed for adventure in a pale-blue sun hat, black sunglasses, gold-colored chain, and patterned swim ring.

Then the adventures began. Swimmy spent years riding on Nichole's dashboard alongside Feather Locklear, sharing daily commutes, errands, road trips, and countless ordinary miles. All that sunshine gradually changed him. His once-brighter colors have noticeably faded, leaving physical evidence of the life he actually lived.

Fortunately, part of Swimmy's commercial history survives too. The Amazon listing associated with ASIN B09V5B2LS2 preserves photographs of an unfaded example with the same distinctive accessories. Together with Nichole's acquisition history, those images help connect the museum object back to the product as it was originally sold.

Swimmy reminds us that an object's story doesn't end when it leaves the store. Sometimes that's exactly where the interesting part begins."

DuckDex Entry #0003

Purchased from Amazon by Nichole, Swimmy Fallon corresponds to a wonuu-branded "Car Rubber Duck" dashboard ornament sold with decorative accessories. Surviving Amazon product photographs show an unfaded yellow duck wearing the same distinctive pale-blue sun hat, black sunglasses, gold-colored chain, and patterned swim ring found on the museum object.

Swimmy spent years riding on the dashboard of Nichole's car, where prolonged sunlight noticeably faded his original coloration. Rather than being restored, these changes are preserved as evidence of his life on the road—documenting his transformation from commercial dashboard ornament to longtime companion and, eventually, museum artifact.

Swimmy Fallon is a museum-assigned name.

🌞 Conservation Notes

Swimmy Fallon exhibits noticeable color fading consistent with prolonged sunlight exposure while displayed on the dashboard of Nichole's vehicle.

Importantly, surviving Amazon product photographs provide a visual reference for the appearance of an unfaded example of the same commercial product. These images can be retained as comparative documentation when assessing changes to Swimmy's coloration over time.

The existing fading is considered part of Swimmy's documented object history and should not be cosmetically restored or recolored. His present condition records years of actual use and forms an important part of his provenance.

❤️ Why Captain Quackers Loves This Duck

Every duck has a story...

"Swimmy Fallon reminds me that an adventure doesn't have to take you somewhere famous. Sometimes it's a morning commute, an errand you didn't want to run, a sunny afternoon drive, or thousands of ordinary miles with a familiar little duck riding beside you.

We can look at the old product photographs and see something close to how Swimmy once looked—bright yellow, dressed for vacation, and ready for the dashboard. Then we can look at Swimmy today and see what happened next.

His colors may have faded, but his story grew richer with every mile. Nichole bought a rubber duck for her dashboard. Somewhere along the road, he became part of the museum's history."
