"Pistachio rewards a closer look. Her translucent body contains green and gold glitter that shifts and sparkles as the light changes, making her unlike the solid-color, pearlescent, and patterned Bath & Body Works ducks elsewhere in the museum collection. Even more intriguing are the markings molded into her base. We can record exactly what they say, but we don't yet know what every number means. Pistachio is a wonderful reminder that an artifact can preserve both beauty and unanswered questions—and sometimes the clues underneath a duck are just as important as the glitter inside it."

Bath & Body Works Collection
DuckDex Entry #0013
This translucent glitter-filled duck is a surviving example of Bath & Body Works' rubber duck merchandise. Molded Bath & Body Works markings establish its brand attribution, and the surviving object is marked as manufactured in China. Its original product name, release date, manufacturer/vendor, and retail context remain under investigation.
Pistachio's translucent body and suspended green-and-gold glitter distinguish it from the solid-color, pearlescent, and patterned examples elsewhere in the museum's collection. The object also preserves molded base markings that may eventually help explain how Bath & Body Works ducks were manufactured or cataloged, although the meaning of those markings has not yet been verified.

Story Connection: Nichole added Pistachio to the museum as part of her effort to document the variety of surviving Bath & Body Works rubber ducks. Its translucent construction, suspended glitter, and molded base markings make it particularly useful for comparison with other examples in the collection and may eventually help the museum better understand relationships among different designs and releases.
Pistachio retains a translucent body with visible green and gold glitter and an orange beak. The glitter remains distributed throughout the body, and the facial details and molded base markings remain.
Condition Note: A small bulge is present on the underside of the base. The deformation prevents Pistachio from sitting completely flush on a flat surface and results in a slight wobble when displayed. The deformation is documented in the artifact's condition record.

Every duck has a story...
"Some ducks shine because of where they've been. Others shine because of who they belonged to. Pistachio sparkles whenever the light finds her—but what I love most are the mysteries we can't see quite so easily. The numbers underneath her, the name she once had, when she appeared, and who actually made her are all pieces of a story we're still trying to recover. Sometimes the best museum treasures aren't the ones with every answer. They're the ones that give us new questions to ask."
