Casey Wells, PharmD, BCACP, CDCES, CPP
I am originally from Greensboro, North Carolina. My volleyball career took me to Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina for my undergraduate degree where I studied Health Sciences. Then, I came back to my home state to attend the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. I have a passion in working for underserved patient populations and it began through medical mission work at Furman. I completed my PGY1 in Ambulatory Care and PGY2 in Ambulatory Care/Academia at MAHEC. One of the things that drew me to MAHEC was their focus on global and rural health. I am truly humbled to be part of this organization and direct my career to focus on underserved patients in western NC!
Beyond pharmacy, I love running, volleyball, hiking and traveling.

Deirdre Kaan, PharmD, BCACP, CDCES, CPP
I am originally from East Lyme, Connecticut but I grew up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. I went to Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for undergrad and pharmacy school. I then completed a PGY1 in community and ambulatory care with ACME and University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and a PGY2 in ambulatory care with Mission Hospital. I joined the MAHEC Internal Medicine and Endocrinology team in July of 2023. I was drawn to MAHEC because I enjoy working with underserved patient populations and helping to connect them to resources. I'm passionate about diabetes management, heart failure management, anticoagulation, and medication access.
In my free time, I enjoy sewing, playing video games, roller-skating, and spending time with my cats.
