Each student is responsible for monitoring the "FM Pharmacy Student" Inbox on their designated day(s) (dependent upon the number of MAHEC ambulatory care students in a given month). Pharmacy faculty will periodically funnel drug info requests into this box for students to follow up on. Once a request is received, please respond within 2 days. Reply directly to the faculty who sent the question.
Directions for checking the inbox are below:

The popular media frequently reports on issues that are relevant to the health or well-being of older adults. These news stories often raise questions among patients and providers. You will refer to a recent (within 6 months) story of interest and take a "deeper dive" into the literature either supporting or refuting the information that is being circulated. The deliverable for this project will be an infographic for either patients or providers (best audience to be determined jointly by student and preceptor). First draft may be submitted in outline form (e.g., using Microsoft Word). Final draft should be created using Canva, Piktochart, or similar.
Possible sources for Hot Topics may include New York Times, NPR, Newsweek, U.S News & World Report ("Health" section), Dr. Oz, etc.Â
If there are any patient issues outstanding at the end of your rotation, please prepare a brief written summary for the preceptor or next student(s) to follow up on. This will help ensure continuity of care.
