in the foreground = in primo piano
in the middle = nel mezzo
into the distance = in lontananza (possiamo anche dire: in the background : sullo sfondo)

La domanda da porre per chiedere circa l'aspetto fisico di una persona è:
What do/does + soggetto + look like?
(N.B.: Non confondiamoci con: What + verbo to be + soggetto + like?, che usiamo per sapere circa la personalità di una persona!)
Quindi, ad esempio:
What does he/she/it look like? (Com'è? = aspetto fisico)
What's he/she/it like? (Com'è? = caratterialmente)

GRANDEZZA - ETA' - FORMA - COLORE
He is a tall young man. He has got short straight brown hair.
