I am Shreshta Rajesh, a second-year undergraduate student pursuing a BS in Economic Sciences at IISER Bhopal, with research interests in behavioural, health, and environmental economics. During a summer internship at NIT Calicut, I contributed to two research papers: one examining healthcare workforce dynamics and health-seeking behaviour during inpatient instances, and another assessing the effectiveness of nudge implementation for waste management in healthcare settings. This experience enhanced my proficiency in research methodologies, Zotero software, literature reviews, and various regression models, while also expanding my exposure to a diverse array of research ideas.
Shreshta presented at the prestigious IMRC Conference of IIM Ahmedabad on her collaborative work on Nudges in Waste-Seggrgation and Hand Hygiene.
In her words, "As a second-year undergraduate at IISER Bhopal, I am passionately pursuing a BS in Economic Sciences, with a keen focus on management, sustainable economics, and environmental economics. My academic journey recently took a significant leap forward during my summer internship at NIT Calicut, where I had the privilege of contributing to two pioneering research papers.
The first project , titled "Assessing Private Travel Times in Bangalore Through the Lens of a Gradual Metro Rail Implementation: A Geospatial Perspective," allowed me to delve into the intricacies of urban transportation and its impacts on travel behavior. The second project where she is lead co-authoring , "Evaluating the Role of Digital Nudges and Sludges in Addictive Business Models: Analyzing Pro-Social Behavior in Health, Delivery, and Matching Applications," provided me with understanding behavioral economics and the subtle influences of digital environments on consumer behavior.\
hese projects have honed my skills in various research methodologies, such as qualitative data analysis, literature reviews, and the application of regression models. My proficiency with Zotero software has also grown, allowing me to manage and organize research more efficiently. This experience has not only expanded my knowledge across a wide spectrum of topics but also strengthened my commitment to pursuing innovative solutions in economic research.
She presented her work on digital nudges and sludges in the prestigious Strategic Management Conference at IIM Mumbai.
Gopika B is a BS Economics Science student at Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Bhopal ,Madhya Pradesh. She worked as an intern with the Research group during Summers’2020. First task in project was manual match merging of towns and shrid . She matched state constituencies and corresponding villages or towns of all states of India separately using new step of learning. She was introduced to Stata and QGIS. She worked on Stata and QGIS as IDs ,DPACO 1976 and DPACO 2008 data. She found Assembly Constituencies of towns in India through mapping projects on geocoding Indian Cities and towns.Worked in the project “Income Consumption and Assets:A Multidirectional Approach” to investigate the causal relationship between socio-economic outcomes and the variables.
GAGAN KRISHNA G S is a second year undergraduate doing BS-MS dual degree programme at IISER Bhopal, having a strong passion in economics science and chemical engineering .He worked as an intern for Dr. Althaf with the research group during Summer 2020.His assignments included matching of state IDs , constituencies and corresponding villages or towns of all states of India separately using DPACO 1976 and DPACO 2008 data.He was able to gain a basic foundation in Stata and QGIS through a project to map Municipalities and Municipal co-operations of different states of India, using QGIS software. He has also worked on other projects using Python programming.
Shedha C is a first year student doing BA(Hons) Economics at Lady Shri Ram College For Women's(LSR),Delhi University. She interned with me during Summer 2020. She has worked in manual match merging of towns and shrid using elections and census data as of DPAC 1976 boundaries, matching of state IDs , constituencies and corresponding villages or towns of all states of India, mapping Municipalities and Municipal co-operations of different states of India,as per 2011 census data through QGIS. She was also introduced to stata. She has rewritten the Management Teaching Case "Hospitals on Park Road' with me.
Sophia Jaison interned with me during her MBA from CUSAT SMS. She is passionate about data and analytics and worked on simultaneous R/Python/Stata/QGIS projects such as mapping projects on geocoding Indian cities and towns.. She published in a geo spatial research Scopus Conference Proceeding with me.
Gautham Nambiar is a 3rd year civil engineering student who is studying in National Institute Of Technology, Calicut. He has interest the field of GIS and data analysis. He worked with me closely on project to analyse the impact of the staggered implementation of the Bangalore Metro or Namma Metro on private travel times in the city of Bangalore and real-estate prices. He published in a geo spatial Scopus Conference Proceeding with me.
Archa E S was one of the first MBA students from NITC to do active research with me. and she looked into in the working of corporate governance mechanisms. Archa did a comprehensive investigation of the relationship between corporate governance structure and firm performance in Indian listed firms. She worked with very large datasets and an array of tools and techniques to analyse and extract information from complex data. Through this project, she aims to understand Corporate Governance within the context of Indian family firms (business groups) focusing on Board of Director characteristics using theoretical lenses of principal-principal agency relationships and stewardship theory thereby devising special policy measures for the companies managed by the family. Archa published with me in IUP journal of Corporate Governance
Vishnu Prasad JS graduated as a MBA student of NIT Calicut (Class of 2021) . His interests include programming, data analytics and finance. He helped me kickstart my research in Geospatial Analytics with support from Ujaval Gandhi of Spatial Thoughts
Nithin Raj K did MBA at NIT, Calicut in finance and systems. He did support me in my first research attempts in Machine Learning
Muhammed Uvais P Kdid his internships at RBI and IIMK after his MBA at KMCT School of Business,Calicut. He interned with me in "Measurement of Corporate Governance in Indian Firms: Using Prowess". He is interested in data extraction and data analysis. He mastered firm database exploration, extraction and preparing the data user manual for first time users of CMIE Prowess.
