had the privilege of working under Dr. Althaf for my final year Business Research Project, an experience that significantly shaped my academic growth. Dr. Althaf was exceptionally supportive and always approachable for any matters related to the project. His vast knowledge and guidance were invaluable, providing me with a solid foundation and the confidence to explore complex ideas and methodologies.
Dr. Althaf’s mentorship was instrumental in helping me present my paper at the distinguished SMF conference, held at one of the premier institutes of the nation, IIM Trichy. This opportunity was a significant milestone in my academic journey and opened doors to a wide range of networking opportunities and learning experiences.
The project, which focused on entrepreneurship, particularly in healthcare start-ups, was a rich learning experience. Under Dr. Althaf's guidance, I had the opportunity to interact with many entrepreneurs from various business verticals, gaining diverse insights into the entrepreneurial landscape. This exposure was crucial in understanding the practical challenges and innovative solutions within the healthcare start-up ecosystem.Moreover, I was able to bring my internship experience into the project, bridging theoretical knowledge with practical applications. This integration of experience and academic research enriched the project, making it more robust and insightful. I am immensely grateful to Dr. Althaf for his unwavering support, mentorship, and belief in my potential. His encouragement and expert advice were pivotal in the successful completion and presentation of my research. I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to work with Althaf sir as my guide for my BRP project. His mentorship was invaluable, and he provided guidance and support every step of the way. His approachable nature and ability to find solutions to complex problems made the journey truly enjoyable. My project, focused on motivating factors influencing neighborhood network palliative care models, was a fascinating topic that I knew little about initially. However, under Althaf sir's guidance, I gained valuable insights and became increasingly interested in the subject. The literature review was engaging, and collecting primary data allowed me to meet inspiring individuals dedicated to societal wellbeing. Their experiences and thoughts left a lasting impact on me. I am grateful for the BRP subject and the wealth of knowledge gained through Althaf sir's mentorship. The experiences and lessons learned will stay with me for a lifetime.
Initially, I approached the project with modest expectations, viewing it as just another academic task. However, working with Professor Althaf changed that perspective. His open-minded and approachable nature, along with his innovative ideas, made our numerous discussions, explorations, and brainstorming sessions incredibly enriching. Presenting the conceptual paper at events like ICMR at IIT Madras and SMF at IIM Trichy provided valuable exposure and experience. Although the journey was lengthy, it was ultimately rewarding. Collaborating on this project has been a significant and enriching experience, and I look forward to continuing this journey.
Driven by my profound passion for movies, I enthusiastically selected the topic of "OTT platforms monetization and distribution strategies" for my project. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience delving into this area of study. Throughout the project, I received invaluable support and ample information from my guide, Prof. Althaf, which enriched my learning journey even further.
Under Dr. Althaf S.'s expert guidance, my BRP journey became truly transformative. Despite having the topic 'Nudges' in mind, I struggled to develop it until he provided clear direction. Sir not only connected me with essential contacts and details for my experimental study but also shared his invaluable insights. Through this study, i gained a deep understanding of the potential of nudges to drive behavioral change in healthcare settings. Sir's genuine enthusiasm for his students' progress and unwavering support ensured that my BRP journey was smooth and productive. I am deeply grateful for his mentorship, which has significantly enriched my learning experience. Additionally, attending the conference under his guidance was a pivotal moment that further shaped my BRP journey
For me the decision of selecting a guide that would take me through or teach me how to go about the business research project was more of an instinct than an intuition. It is with immense pleasure and pride that I can claim to have had the best guide for such a project. As per my understanding Dr. Althaf S provides a perfect balance of freedom to learn and guidance towards the right path. In my experience, I was taught to work upfront rather than last minute, to find out and reach a logical conclusion with every task rather than giving in to procrastination or giving up. It was indeed an inspiring journey where at every low sir would provide a boost to your morale.
Through out the course and even after, there are regular instances of discussion as to where to take the project next. I was gracious to have even attended a conference under the guidance of Dr. Althaf S, this was a great opportunity for me, the experience of which I cherish till date. The entire drive throughout the course is based on the unshakable determination that Dr Althaf invests in his students and has himself. I would no doubt recommend performing your business research projects under his guidance. The most inspiring part for me was that I was accepted under his guidance despite choosing a topic that was far away from his offered topics. He was open to my hesitance as I wouldn't budge away from what I decided to work on, I was accepted and guided even though it might have troubled him a bit more than usual.
During the beginning of my research project, I was a novice with wild unclear seeds of ideas. I have always been interested in the world of business, entrepreneurship and how businesses are born and operate..I love to know stories about them, read up more and more about which bold move led a business to success, which move led to a catastrophic failure, which industry currently is growing leaps and bounds and which industry is currently shunned by all. Under the guidance of Dr. Althaf my bare idea and passion was successfully transformed into a complete project. I was guided about how to utilize frameworks to evaluate platforms, Althaf sir helped me narrow down a sector for research and sir provided me with extensive reading material for research that helped me form a strong base in my particular industry segment i.e healthcare.It was during the course of my BRP that I was able to grasp upto some extent the current overview of the Indian healthcare industry and the gaps and opportunities that are present. This has been helpful not only for mere academic purposes but also appeals to my inner fire of entrepreneurship. It was with the help of Althaf sir's guidance that I got the opportunity to interact with industry leaders and successful entrepreneurs in the field of healthcare which provided me with immense learnings . Althaf sir has donned every role right from hand holding me in the beginning, patiently listening to me while I change idea after idea, even with last minute changes in my research subject he patiently heard me out and guided me to the right path. Even in the most trying of all moments, Althaf sir has always offered hope and never let me down. Thank you for allowing me to work under you and gain invaluable experience.
It was a great experience to work and expand my knowledge in the field of environmental studies through BRP. This experience enabled me to analyze secondary data, gather information and process it effectively, enabling me to evaluate a research topic comprehensively. Through the extensive literature review, I not only built the foundation for my research, but also developed critical thinking and analytical skills for future endeavors. Overall, my BRP journey has been enriching and transformative.
When I initially went to Althaf sir, I was sure about which field I wanted to do research in but I was not sure how to go about it . Even though my field of interest was not something Althaf sir had too much experience about, he appreciated my enthusiasm for the project and guided me in finalizing and narrowing down upon a topic. Right from helping me with relevant literature to helping me conduct the proper research, data collection and analysis, Althaf sir has been a constant support and guide throughout my Business Research Project journey. It is only due to Dr. Althaf's able guidance and willingness to hear me out that I was able to finally channelize my passion into a fruitful project. My BRP began with an idea that I wanted to know more and study the effects of Body Positivity Movement in social media and corporate world,and later as I progressed into the journey of my research I was able to narrow down and analyse with the help of surveys and interviews, the relationship between attributes like gender, education, and other socio-demographic factors and body positivity. It helped me determine how the Indian diaspora's perception related to content about body positivity differs between various age groups, genders and educational backgrounds. As an MBA student and an upcoming managerial candidate, it helped me realize the social and managerial implications of such social movements and what potential actions could be taken to incorporate such movements.
BRP - I initially considered it as a course requirement that needed to be fulfilled just for the sake of grades, but then I met my guide Althaf sir - the man who made it actually interesting and made me realise that it could be extremely fun and experimental.
His areas of interests were given to us in a concise manner but he was more interested to know the students' field of interests and even got me to write an SOP to figure out which topic I would be interested in to do my BRP in. Sir even took out his personal time to discuss my vivid SOP with his family to scrutinize my BRP topics. He pushed his boundaries and sat with each one of us pondering on how to better our work and guided us throughout the process giving us contacts and his referrals. Mine was a completely new topic in SOMS which had not been taken up by any previous student and hence it was important to do heavy research and actually be glued to the topic, it was sir who did the background work of hunting a base book of Richard Thaler's "Nudge" and it's associated research works. There was a point where I was extremely demotivated in the process due to harsh panel remarks but sir was the person who prompted us to not give up and even redesigned the experimental design structure. One of his referrals turned out to be of great help and assisted me in setting up an experimental research in the healthcare facility.
He is sure to be fresh with ideas, will not give up, be extremely thrilled on our progress and will be all ears to the concerns students would have regarding BRP. I would consider my BRP a great experience only because of sir's wholesome guidance and the topic - NUDGE.
