Rakesh R who is working as national level program manager in Tuberculosis Implementation Framework Agreement (TIFA) with National TB Elimination Program is an external doctoral student at the National Institute of Technology, Calicut, under the guideship of Dr. Althaf Shajahan. The primary objective of his PhD thesis is to investigate the efficacy of a novel behavioural intervention, in improving Tuberculosis treatment adherence among patients in private healthcare settings in Kerala. By conducting a randomized controlled trial, the study aims to determine whether the intervention significantly increases adherence rates. Additionally, qualitative research will be undertaken to explore the intervention’s impact on Tuberculosis treatment adherence and to identify potential barriers and facilitators to its implementation. The findings of this research will contribute to the development of evidence-based strategies for enhancing TB treatment outcomes and reducing the burden of TB in Kerala and beyond.
